Note that even the NOS Plymouth chrome, as seen in photo, is not of brilliant, show-chrome variety. The inside surfaces have some rust, and could use a coat of paint. Plymouth was one of the low-priced three. The hazing of the used chrome plating is visible, but finish still acceptable for a driver, or to replace missing part.

This is more obvious when installed on a replanted bumper. The pair of photos showing bumper guards, as installed on a rear bumper, show the difference between NOS example, and one used items being offered here. There are still marks and striations remaining in the steel, which were not completely polished out at factory, prior to plating. Some work with a hammer and punch can restore the profile around bolt holes, where you see how they are pushed inward slightly.

These guards can be installed as is, they straightened and used, or sent out for show chrome, in which case, would much better match a re chromed bumper, my opinion. Both guards have been hit in service, although they were still firmly attached to the car.
